When the Space Chimps (voices of Cheryl Hines, Patrick Warburton and Andy Samberg) blasted off for their first interplanetary adventure, their little pal Comet (voice by Zack Shada) had to stay behind in the control center. But now (in this direct-to-home-DVD sequel), the space agency is gearing up for another galactic trip and Comet is convinced he will get his chance to go along.

However when the crew list is posted, Comet’s name has been scratched off. Disappointed, he sneaks onto the parked rocket and inadvertently launches the huge contraption. Traveling through a wormhole, he finally arrives at his destination where he meets a local named Kilowatt (voice by Laura Bailey).

Back on Earth at the space facility, the Space Chimps try to figure out a way to get the inexperienced flyer home. But their attempts are interrupted by a space alien, who followed the astronauts home from their last journey.

Subjected to typical Saturday morning type violence and bathroom humor, the characters in the movie experience many moments of peril. One is hit by a car and electrocuted while trying to climb through a fence. Several others are dematerialized with a new age weapon that falls into the wrong hands. Many of the same stereotypical characters—nerdy scientists, a bombastic Senator, and an attention-seeking chimp—make a return appearance in this story as well.

Given the antics in this run of the mill sequel, these chimpanzees likely won’t inspire anyone to aim for the stars. And unfortunately, the lack of consequences for many of their choices makes then less than stellar role models for young audience members.

He is later hurt while riding on a treadmill. A monkey nearly crashes to the ground while wearing a jet pack. A character shoots a weapon at others and dematerializes them. Several characters are chased and threatened. A car hits a monster.

Sexual Content: A male character makes mildly suggestive comments to a woman. Other brief veiled sexual remarks are included.

Language: Some name-calling and infrequent rude comments are found in the script.

Alcohol / Drug Use: None noted.

Other: A character sneaks into a restricted area and inadvertently steals a rocket. A monster hijacks a car and drives erratically. A dog pees on a monster. A clown has a banana repeatedly stuck in his ear, supposedly pushing his brains out of his other ear. Characters are shot out of a canon. Stereotypical depictions are used.
